Alpha Terra works with you to identify the right level of safety evaluation based upon the needs at your facility, the maturity of your safety program, objectives for the review, and the level of experience and training of your staff.
The purpose of performing some form of safety evaluation demonstrates management commitment to employees, promotes employee involvement in providing a safe and healthy workplace, identifies deficiencies that can cause preventable injuries or accidents, helps to control and reduce worker’s compensation claims, reduces the cost of insurance premiums, and builds and improves on your Safety Management System.
OSHA (or DCOMM for WI public sector clients) compliance appraisals have been completed for manufacturing clients in the plastics, dairy, and metal fabrication industry and public entities such as towns, villages, cities, counties, utilities, and highway departments throughout the State of Wisconsin and nationwide.
Alpha Terra Science compliance appraisals are less detailed than a compliance assessment but still provide the client with a general overview of their compliance status with applicable regulations. The report format is much shorter than that of an assessment and is provided as a bulleted list of recommendations. An appraisal is a highly effective tool for small facilities or smaller public entities.
Numerous comprehensive OSHA (or DCOMM for WI public sector clients) compliance assessments have been completed for many organizations including a wide variety of manufacturing companies and public entities (cities, counties, utilities, etc.).
The process used to complete these assessments includes an analysis of related records (written programs, training records, documented procedures, accident records, etc.) as well as a physical inspection of the organization’s facilities. Findings and recommendations are presented in a detailed report.
Detailed safety audits have been completed for an international foundry to verify operating entity’s compliance with OSHA Standards and their own corporate safety requirements. These audits include a comprehensive review of related records, thorough facility inspections, employee interviews, a closing conference and a detailed final written report. Each facility is scored based on this audit. This score determines whether or not the facility will be internally “safety certified” for the fiscal year. These reviews have been repeated for multiple facilities over many years.
Something as basic as a written program review also falls into the category of safety audits but at a more scaled down effort that includes a review and makes recommendations on only written documentation provided to our staff. An onsite visit is not required for this type of request.
Often due to time constraints or technical background, in-house staff cannot perform a meaningful safety audit. And in some cases, simply a fresh look at things by another party may be beneficial.
The industry experience of our safety professionals assures you of a thorough review with practical, effective, and efficient recommendations. We have performed hundreds of safety evaluations during the last 13 years while assisting many of our clients with ongoing development of their safety program.
